TREATISE

James Sizemore’s third album presents a set of musical designs, presented in the black and white shades of the solo piano. Written and recorded by the composer, each piece contains a single musical puzzle which unfolds throughout the piece. Lacking the diverse timbres of the orchestra and electronics heard in the composer’s previous releases, the solo piano highlights each puzzle without the additional colors to hide behind.

The album was recorded and performed at the composer’s home, and mixed in his studio over the summer of 2021.

The first single from the album will be available 10.15.2021.

James Sizemore is a composer and music editor with notable credits in film and television. James’ music ranges from the additional music in the family film A Dog’s Purpose, to adding string arrangements to M Night Shamylan’s dark film Split.

James arranged and produced the score for the award winning film Spotlight. Previously James spent 3 years working with director Peter Jackson and composer Howard Shore, orchestrating and arranging the music for The Hobbit Trilogy.

With a versatile background in many musical styles, he has ranged from the big broadway musical numbers written for the recent OJ:The Musical  to the ambient soundscapes heard in David Cronenberg’s films Maps to the Starsand Cosmopolis. His versatility can also be heard in Jon Stewart’s film Rosewater, where ethnic Persian soloists intermingle with hip-hop and rock influences.

James is an Artist in Residence at Bard Music Conservatory, teaching a course on film music. He has also served on the faculty of New York University and the City University of New York. He lives in the Hudson Valley, NY with his wife and daughters.

Get the Album first

The first 3 tracks on the new album will be released on 3.20.2020, but the rest of the album will not be available until this summer on the streaming platforms and stores. These platforms favor singles over albums for playlist placement.

So I will be sharing the entire album for email subscribers in a 7 day album experience. (Don't worry, it's just about building a community, not about spamming you with emails!).

On album release day, you will receive 1 email a day for 7 days that leads you to a behind the scenes look that details what each piece means, how it was written, and how it was recorded. You can download the high res audio (available nowhere else), stream the music, look at the scores, and learn how it was recorded.

Thank you for joining me on this musical journey! Check your email inbox (and Junk Mail!) for the Welcome email.
